Becca - Taking the TESOL/TEFL training course with Dr. Stephen at ParadiseTEFL has made a tremendous difference in my stay here in Thailand.  I learned very valuable information about life in Thailand and practical teaching tools for immediate application in the classroom.  One of the things I appreciated the most about the course, besides Stephen's down-to-earth and kind manner, is the tailor-made curriculum.  What I mean is Stephen highlighted the most important aspects of his TESOL/TEFL course according to my prior experience and needs.  No wasting precious time!  Everything I learned was interesting, practical and meaningful.  I know this because I have just completed a semester of teaching in the northeast, where I put what I learned to the test.  Teaching in Thailand can come as a shocking experience if one is not prepared.  Stephen prepared me for the ridiculously large class sizes, the communication within the school system, the levels of English training to expect, and, most importantly, the best way to reach the students, get them engaged in learning and manage the classroom.  I have had no major discipline problems all semester, and I teach twenty-five classes of 45 students each and several age groups.  I believe Stephen's sound advice was significant for my survival and success.  I have had a very worthwhile and enjoyable teaching experience, grateful for what I learned from Stephen prior to jumping in.


Tony - Graduates from other TEFL/TESL courses have told me horror stories about their training course: not delivering much of what was promised to them, spending precious coursework time on irrelevant material that one never uses in teaching and feeling unprepared for the job at hand.  You will not experience this with Dr. Stephen. He took the time to understand first, our experience in the teaching world and tailored the program to us in the realistic role we would be placed in. Charlie - I had a great time studying with Stephen in Chiang Mai. Class is held in the lush shade of the sub-tropical gardens of the hotel - beautiful. The course followed the course handbook that I received after paying my deposit. I learned about what format my cv should take and interview skills as well as modules actually related to the reality of teaching.   The observed teaching lessons were practical teaching sessions and I found them very useful.  I recommend both Paradise TEFL and Chiang Mai to anyone seeking a rewarding and practical learning experience in a beautiful and fun city in which to study.

Morgan - I really enjoyed and benefited from the course I took with Paradise TEFL. The course work can be found anywhere, but the level of inside knowledge the instructor, Dr. Stephen Gardner, has is unsurpassed. I was given insight into the cultures, living situations and teaching environments of basically any Asian country where I might want to work. Furthermore, when I asked about opportunities in Europe and the Americas he did research and contacted colleges to help me understand what teaching there might be like. Also, because his classes are so small, each student gets specialized and individualized attention both during the course and support after. Stephen read any contracts I received and helped me to choose the best one and then negotiate the terms and conditions to my great benefit. Once I began to teach (in China) I felt prepared for both the classroom situation and the cultural environment, all thanks to Paradise TEFL.

Ged - I Studied at Paradise TEFL and was very happy with the teacher training and how this was achieved.  A professional approach was very evident while  at the same time delivered in a relaxed manner .  I have previously been teaching  in a structured teaching environment for 9 years covering business subjects at degree level.  Some of my  teaching methods where not so suited to Teaching English and I was very pleased that Stephen paid special attention to these areas and worked to make very necessary adjustments to my teaching style and offered many ideas on how to achieve this.   I had to go through an “unlearning” phase, and learn culture and etiquette appropriate to teaching foreign students.  Group work and peer review  combined very well with the class teaching practice, which enabled good quality analysis and feedback after each session.  I am now teaching in China and I am still using my class notes from the course !  I now have a sound base to develop my English teaching skills and I am very thankful to Paradise TEFL for providing me with the skills to hit the ground running in my first full on teaching position.  I would highly recommend this course to prospective English Teachers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

David - The month that I spent studying at Paradise TEFL in Chiang Mai, Thailand was one of my most rewarding experiences to date. The comprehensive course, the teaching experience I gained, and the professional instruction I received along the way fully prepared me for the position that I now hold at a private language school in Singapore. The globally recognized certificates that Paradise TEFL awards to its graduates also ensured that I was able to find this teaching position immediately after my studies were complete! Although the course covers a lot of ground, the friendly and down to earth approach of the instructor made each session enjoyable, and overall the material never felt overwhelming. Finally, Paradise TEFL also provided me the opportunity to soak in the wonderful city of Chiang Mai and its warm people; an experience that I will always look back upon fondly.
